Dragon Studio Solutions designed and delivered a state-of-the-art production facility for NBC Universal, engineered to meet strict broadcast standards. The project seamlessly integrates high-performance acoustic engineering, custom lighting infrastructure, and broadcast-ready studio architecture to support continuous, high-fidelity audio and video recording.

Acoustic Engineering & Sound Treatment

To achieve exceptional speech clarity and complete acoustic isolation, the facility utilises a layered acoustic strategy balancing high-efficiency sound absorption, diffusion, and structural noise dampening.

• Wall & Ceiling Absorption: The studio perimeter is fully wrapped in 25mm Instyle Ecoustic Panels, effectively dampening mid-to-high frequency reflections and eliminating flutter echoes across the main set.

• Camera-Facing Feature Wall: The background behind the talent incorporates custom timber slat panels integrated with 11mm acoustic felt, providing subtle sound diffusion and low-end absorption alongside a premium visual aesthetic.

• Variable Acoustic Control: Full-height acoustic curtains offer quick acoustic tuning across openings, controlling reverberation depending on the production setup.

• Wall Construction & Isolation: The structural walls feature high-density acoustic plasterboard coupled with Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) dampening layers to maximize sound transmission class (STC) ratings and block exterior noise.

• Flooring & Vibration Isolation: The space uses specialized acoustic flooring to absorb impact noise, footfall, and low-frequency mechanical vibrations.

• Acoustic Portals: Heavy-duty solid-core doors with perimeter acoustic seals and drop-down bottom seals ensure complete enclosure integrity and prevent sound leakage.
