The Deaf Society
In-house Studio fitout
The Brief
The Deaf Society needed to replace an outdated studio that relied on floor-based lighting stands — an arrangement that limited usable space and created setup complexity. The new studio had to deliver professional chromakey results with a fixed, easy-to-use lighting configuration that required no adjustment between sessions.
The Build
Dragon Studio Solutions consulted on the studio design, providing a 3D mockup and advising on optimal room sizing and lighting placement. The new chromakey studio was built with a fixed ceiling-mounted lighting configuration specifically designed for sign language video production — positioned to avoid shadows on presenters and provide consistent illumination without any daily setup.
Key Features
Chromakey studio for sign language and community video content
Ceiling-mounted LED lighting — no floor stands
Fixed lighting position — consistent results without adjustment
Designed for Deaf community content production workflows
3D mockup and consultation provided pre-build
The Outcome
The Deaf Society now produces chromakey video content in a purpose-built studio that is faster to use and more consistent in output than their previous setup. The removal of floor stands frees space for presenters and operators, while the fixed ceiling lighting means the studio is ready to use immediately — an important advantage for an organisation producing high volumes of community communication content.
