After-Sales Service and Training: What Happens After Your Studio Is Built

A studio that no one knows how to use is just a room with expensive equipment in it. This is a problem Dragon has seen enough times to build an entire arm of the business around solving it — Dragon Education and Training, operating from the same Artarmon, Collingwood, and Bowen Hills locations as Dragon Image and Dragon Studio Solutions.

Most studio builds involve a handover session. Dragon Education goes significantly further than that.

What Dragon Education offers

NESA-accredited professional learning for teachers

Dragon Education provides New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) accredited professional learning courses for teachers — satisfying maintenance of accreditation requirements while delivering genuinely practical skills. Courses cover photography fundamentals, video and film in practice, software skills, and studio operation. These are not generic online modules — they are hands-on workshops run in Dragon's studio facilities with real equipment.

The emphasis is on application: every course includes resources, programs, and handouts that teachers can take back to their classrooms and use with students immediately. Courses run at the Dragon Artarmon studio as excursions, or can be delivered at your school as incursions.

Student incursions and excursions

Dragon Education delivers creative media workshops for students from primary through senior secondary, covering filmmaking, photography, editing, and studio production. Workshops are available as:

Excursions — students visit the Dragon studio in Artarmon. Access to professional studio equipment, cyclorama studios, green screen setups, and a full suite of cameras, lights, and audio gear that most school budgets cannot replicate.

Incursions — Dragon Education brings the workshop to your school. Equipment, expertise, and the workshop structure come to you, using your existing studio infrastructure or portable equipment brought for the day.

Studio operation training — post-build

For organisations that have recently had a studio built by Dragon Studio Solutions, Dragon Education provides specific training on the equipment and systems installed. This covers lighting operation (tracklight systems, pantograph operation, DMX control or single-switch systems), background and cyclorama use, camera and audio setup, and workflow — how to run the studio efficiently for the specific use cases it was designed for.

The goal is to produce a situation where the studio can be operated confidently by the people who will use it every day — teachers, marketing staff, communications teams — without requiring a production specialist every time.

Why after-sales training matters

Dragon Studio Solutions has seen many cases where a well-built studio is underutilised because the people responsible for it feel uncertain about the equipment. The studio runs occasionally, for simple setups only, with most of its capability unused. This is a waste of the investment made in the build.

Dragon Education's approach is to close this gap — not with a one-hour handover, but with structured training that builds genuine operational confidence. Teachers who have completed Dragon Education workshops run their studio spaces as active, productive learning environments rather than impressive-looking rooms that get used twice a term.

Testimonials

Vivian from Cecil Hills High School, Catherine from Taree Christian School, and Natalie from Newington College have each provided testimonials on the Dragon Education website about the impact of Dragon Education workshops on their teaching practice and their school's studio usage. These are available at dragon.edu.au.
