Aputure Studio Lighting: Professional LED for Film, Broadcast, and Commercial Photography

Aputure has done more than most brands to shift the professional lighting market. A decade ago, high-output LED lights with broadcast-grade colour accuracy required a budget that put them out of reach for all but the largest production houses. Aputure's LS series changed that — delivering colour accuracy, output, and build quality that meets professional film and broadcast standards at prices that working photographers and videographers could justify.
Dragon Image is an authorised Aputure dealer in Australia, stocking the full LS series, Amaran sub-brand, Nova soft panel range, and Aputure light modifiers across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane showrooms.
The Aputure LS series
LS 60x — the versatile compact
The LS 60x is a bi-colour focusing LED (2700K to 6500K) that uses custom aspherical optics to achieve a 15° to 45° variable beam angle — switchable between spot and flood without an additional lens attachment. Battery-powered (V-mount) or AC. CRI 95+. Controlled via Sidus Link Bluetooth app up to 80m. At 60W it punches well above its size, making it a strong choice for accent lights, kickers, and interview setups where a compact, controllable source is needed.
LS 300d Mark II and 300x
The 300d Mark II is a 300W daylight (5500K) COB LED and the 300x is the bi-colour variant (2700K to 6500K). Both are the standard specification for a key light in a professional interview or portrait studio. High output, Bowens mount, external control box design, V-mount or AC power. The 300x is the versatile choice — the ability to match any ambient colour temperature without gels makes it the practical preference for studios doing both photography and video.
LS 600d Pro and 600x Pro
The 600D Pro is 600W daylight COB, the 600X Pro is 600W bi-colour. These are the high-output studio workhorses — comparable to powerful HMI fixtures in output but with the energy efficiency, lower heat, and instant on/off of LED. Used in large cyclorama studios, automotive builds, and any application where the shooting area is large enough to require significant light output to achieve correct exposure at a working aperture. The LS 600C Pro is the RGBWW full-colour variant.
Nova P300c — the soft panel
The Nova P300c is Aputure's large-format RGBWW soft panel — a 300W panel producing a wide, soft light source for beauty work, fashion, interview setups, and any application where a large-source overhead or side fill is required. CRI 95+. Full RGBWW colour with Sidus Link app control. Bowens mount for modifier attachment.
Aputure's modifier ecosystem
One of Aputure's significant advantages is its Light Dome modifier range — a family of octa softboxes, domes, and Fresnel attachments designed specifically for the LS series and fully Bowens-mount compatible. The Light Dome II (90cm), Light Dome Mini III (60cm), and Fresnel 2X are the most commonly specified in Dragon Image studio builds. The Fresnel 2X converts a COB monolight into a focusable spotlight — useful for cyclorama background illumination and for separating subject from background with controlled beam spread.
