Amaran is the creator-focused sub-brand of Aputure, designed to bring professional LED lighting quality to a broader market — content creators, small studio operators, school media departments, and videographers who need capable, app-controlled lighting without the price of the full Aputure LS professional series.
The brand sits between consumer lighting and professional broadcast equipment, and it fills that space well. Dragon Image stocks Amaran alongside the full Aputure LS professional range, and it is increasingly specified for school studios, podcast studios, and in-house content creation spaces where budget, ease of operation, and colour capability are the primary requirements.
The Amaran range
Ray COB series — the flagship
Announced in late 2025, the Ray series is Amaran's new flagship family of full-colour COB lights, covering 60W (Ray 60c), 120W (Ray 120c), 360W (Ray 360c), and 660W (Ray 660c). The Ray series uses Amaran's OmniColor light engine — an expanded red/blue range with an indigo emitter — for high colour fidelity across the RGBWW spectrum. CCT range is 2,300K to 10,000K (extending to 1,800K–20,000K in CCT+ mode), with HSI, RGB, and studio modes, plus 12 built-in lighting effects.
The Ray 360c and 660c are all-in-one monolight designs — powered by a single AC cable — designed for dedicated studio environments. The Ray 60c and 120c are compact and travel-friendly, supporting USB-C PD power input for use with power banks and chargers. All Ray fixtures are IP54-rated for dust and splash resistance and feature built-in NFC for instant pairing with the Amaran app.
Pano panels
The Pano 60c and 120c are ultra-slim RGB COB mobile light panels — approximately iPad and laptop-sized respectively — with 2300K to 10,000K CCT and full RGBWW colour control. CRI 96, TLCI 97. USB-C PD powered. Controlled via the Amaran app (iOS and Android). Supplied with softbox, grid, and diffuser. Designed for creators who need a portable, colour-capable panel that sets up in seconds and packs flat.
Flexible LED mats
The Amaran F22X and related flexible LED mat range provides 2x2 and 2x1 format bi-colour and RGBWW flexible lighting for wrapping around curved surfaces, mounting in confined spaces, or creating practical in-frame lighting effects. The F22X delivers 200W, 6,420+ lux at 1m, with CRI 95+ and TLCI 98+.
100c, 200c, 300c COB lights
The existing Amaran COB range (100c, 200c, 300c in daylight and bi-colour variants) provides the proven Aputure Sidus Link wireless ecosystem in a more accessible body. Bowens mount compatible. Controlled via the Sidus Link app. These are the workhorses of many school studio and small commercial studio installs — reliable, well-supported, and compatible with the full Aputure modifier range.

Who Amaran suits
Amaran is the right choice for school media studios that need colour-capable, app-controlled lighting without the complexity or cost of a full professional LS system. For podcast and interview studios where the operator is not a lighting technician and needs intuitive app control. For in-house content creation spaces where variety of looks — warm, daylight, colour effects — is more important than maximum raw output.
The Pano panels are a particularly useful addition to any studio where a fast, portable, colour-accurate panel is needed for fill, accent, or practical lighting — they set up and pack down in seconds and fit in a backpack.
