Nanlite has established itself as one of the most technically credible LED lighting brands in the professional photography and video market. Its products are characterised by high colour accuracy — CRI 96 and TLCI 97 or above across most of the range — combined with output levels and build quality that meet broadcast and commercial production standards.
Dragon Image stocks Nanlite across its Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane showrooms, and specifies Nanlite products in studio builds where colour-critical work — commercial photography, broadcast, fashion — demands the highest accuracy.
The Nanlite range
Forza COB series
The Forza range is Nanlite's flagship COB (Chip-on-Board) LED monolight series, covering output from 60W to over 800W. Key models include the Forza 60B and 60C (bi-colour and full-colour 60W), Forza 300B (bi-colour, 38,720 lux at 1m with reflector, CRI/TLCI 96/97), and Forza 500B II and 720B for high-output applications typically handled by HMI fixtures. All use Bowens mount for compatibility with a wide modifier range. Bi-colour models cover 2700K to 6500K with constant output mode — maintaining consistent intensity across the full CCT range without exposure drift.
FS series — studio monolights
The FS-300B and FS-500B are Nanlite's purpose-built studio monolight designs — AC-powered, all-in-one units with large LED arrays and precision reflectors designed for even light spread with no hotspots when used with a softbox. The FS-300B delivers up to 38,720 lux at 1m. Both models include built-in Bluetooth (NANLINK app control) and 2.4GHz wireless control.
PavoSlim LED panels
The PavoSlim range offers ultra-slim bi-colour and RGBWW LED panels for studios requiring wide-area soft light from a low-profile fixture. The PavoSlim 60B and 120B (bi-colour) and 60C and 120C (RGBWW) deliver CRI 96, TLCI 97, and are particularly suited to studio environments where ceiling-mounted panel solutions are preferred over COB monolights with modifiers.
Pavotube RGB tube lights
The Pavotube series provides RGBWW LED tube lighting for practical effects, colour accents, and creative lighting applications. CRI/TLCI ratings reach 97/98 on current models. Available in multiple lengths and configurations for both studio and location use.
NANLINK ecosystem
All current Nanlite products support the NANLINK wireless control system via Bluetooth and the NANLINK mobile app (iOS and Android), as well as 2.4GHz wireless and DMX/RDM control for integration into larger lighting control systems. Multiple lights can be grouped and controlled simultaneously, with 12 built-in practical effects available on most models.
Nanlite colour accuracy — what the numbers mean
Specification | What it measures | Nanlite typical rating | Broadcast minimum |
CRI (Colour Rendering Index) | How accurately a light renders colour compared to natural light (0-100) | 96 | 90+ |
TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) | CRI equivalent specifically calibrated for video camera sensors (0-100) | 97 | 85+ |
CCT range (bi-colour models) | Adjustable colour temperature range | 2700K – 6500K | Varies |
Dimming range | Smoothness of 0-100% dimming without colour shift | 0.1% – 100% | Flicker-free required |
For commercial photography, broadcast, and fashion studios where colour accuracy directly affects the end product — skin tone reproduction, accurate product colour, consistent results across sessions — Nanlite's CRI 96 / TLCI 97 ratings place it in the top tier of available LED systems.
Who Nanlite suits
Nanlite is the specification for studios where colour accuracy is non-negotiable. Commercial photographers shooting product work where colour fidelity is a client deliverable, broadcast facilities where skin tone accuracy on camera is paramount, and fashion studios where accurate garment colour across long shoot days is critical. The Forza COB range is also a strong choice for studios needing high-output point-source light for large spaces or exterior-style lighting setups indoors.
